Sound

Sterling EQ's music, in terms of style best described as instrumental pop, is inspired by different genres from various eras stretching over 5 centuries; “from Mozart to Mandoza” is a phrase they often use when describing the content of their repertoire.  Juxtaposing “diverse” musical styles like Classical and Latin House; Baroque and Kwaito, keeps Sterling’s audiences on their toes (and often on the dance floor!) and proves that the stylistic boundaries to which we’ve become so accustomed, are certainly not set in stone.

Sterling's debut album “Nova”, which was released in March 2009, showcases 4 innovative original works by Gabi le Roux, as well as a striking arrangement of Mandoza’s greatest hit and South African favourite, “Nkalakatha”.  Sterling’s first record also includes arrangements of Classical works such as Bach’s Toccata in D, Entrance of the Queen of Sheba, Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, Czardas etc.
