Two SAMA nominations for Sterling EQ
Instrumental pop group Sterling EQ has been nominated for two 2011 MTN SOUTH AFRICAN MUSIC AWARDS (SAMA's) in the Best Instrumental Album and Best Jazz/Instrumental/Popular Classical DVD categories. This folllows their nomination in the Best Popular Classical Album Category last year, when they also performed live at the prestigious award function, sharing the stage with South Africa's other top artists.
Their second studio album "Sterling Speel Afrikaans" is nominated in the category Best Instrumental Album, where they will be competing against CT Tango Ensemble (for the album Tango Club), Greg Georgiades, Steve Newman, Ashish Joshi (In The Clouds) and Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra (The Boundless Music Of The Soul Brothers). Their highly acclaimed Live DVD "Sterling EQ Live in Concert" is up against Helena Hettema (Alive), Marcus Wyatt Language 12 (Live at House of Nsako) and Nibs Van Der Spuy (Live at the Vagabond Cafe) in the category Best Jazz/Instrumental/Popular Classical DVD.
"We are very excited and honoured by this double nomination" says Carina Bruwer, electric flautist and leader of the groundbreaking instrumental act. "We'd like to congratulate all the nominees in the various categories, and we're looking forward to seeing everyone at the exciting awards evening in May at the all-new SAMA venue, Montecasino!"
