South Africa’s new electrifying crossover quartet to launch debut album at Wembley Square in Cape Town

Sterling EQ, South Africa’s sensational all-girl electric quartet will be launching their sizzling debut album at the trendy life style centre Wembley Square, 27th March at 7 PM. Produced by Gabi Le Roux with 2 bonus tracks by London-based producer Helmut Meijer, Sterling’s first recording is set to become hot property for the group’s fast growing following.

The debut album, called “Nova”, showcases 4 innovative original works by Gabi le Roux, as well as a striking arrangement of Mandoza’s greatest hit and South African favourite, “Nkalakatha”.  Sterling’s first record also includes arrangements of Classical works such as Bach’s Toccata in D, Entrance of the Queen of Sheba, Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, Czardas etc.

Says bandleader and flautist, Carina Bruwer, “Our objective in re-working these compositions was to create powerful versions of well-known favourites that would be groundbreaking in this genre. We’re extremely excited with the result – a fresh album that will provide our listeners with top quality Classical crossover music.”

Sterling EQ is made up of some of South Africa’s top and most gorgeous young virtuosos. Not only are they top qualified and award-winning instrumentalists, all 4 women have enjoyed significant success in other fields.  Electric flautist Carina Bruwer, who owns an entertainment agency, is also a renowned marathon swimmer, with many national and international records to her name.  Electric violinist Eriel Huang, fluent in no less than 6 languages, has acted as translator for various international meetings. Magdalene (electric violinist and viola player) is a talented soprano having starred in various professional operas, and electric cellist Ariella Caira is a qualified actress who graduated last year with a Theatre and Performance degree with a distinction in drama.  Combined, they are a force to be reckoned with.  Armed with a leading-edge album, they are set to take South Africa by storm.
