STERLING LAUNCHES SIZZLING DEBUT ALBUM AT ILLUSTRIOUS EVENT
Sterling EQ’s impressive launch of a sizzling new album, ‘Nova’ on 27 March, served as confirmation of their stardom.
Cape Town’s Wembley Square was bursting at the seams with fans wanting to secure their seats at the restaurants for the performance of South Africa’s favourite electric quartet.
The girls took to the stage after a dramatic prelude by electric harpist, Roelien Grobbelaar. Members of the audience were treated to arrangements of works by Vivaldi, Bach, and even Mandoza. Sterling EQ’s music, produced by Gabi le Roux, is both stylish and irresistibly danceable. ‘Nova’ also boasts two bonus tracks from London producer Helmut Meijer.
Magdalene Minnaar stunned the crowd, which included local and national press, with her operatic abilities when she exchanged her viola for a microphone. The leader of the group, Carina Bruwer, is not only a renowned marathon swimmer but also improvises like few classically trained flautists can. Violinist Eriel Huang’s flashy violin solo’s and Ariella Caira’s sensual cello sounds completed the picture.
During the course of the evening members of the audience could enter a competition to win a live Sterling EQ performance. The prize was won by an ecstatic Mr Richard Chang.
